dTOOR & The Cyrcle Phone is a Washington-based and woman-owned consumer electronics Social Purpose Corporation which creates “Non-Rectangular Phones for Non-Rectangular People.” Owner and CEO Christina Cyr started her journey in 2014 with the inspiration that consumers should have alternatives which are better than mainstream rectangular phones. That was how dTOOR came to life, which stands for Designing The Opposite Of Rectangle. dTOOR started selling units of The Cyrcle Phone 2G via a Kickstarter campaign that lasted from August to September 2016. All the rewards were delivered by November 30, 2016, which was five months earlier than promised. The road to the second phone was not an easy one due to industry chip shortages as well as the COVID-19 pandemic. However, dTOOR & The Cyrcle Phone stayed strong and eventually released The Cyrcle Phone 4G with Android 10 via a Kickstarter campaign in August of 2021. The team met the crowdfunding goal within 60 hours of the campaign’s launch, and is currently working on delivering the rewards to the backers within the promised 12 month timeframe.
